IELTS speaking practice

IELTS speaking practice you can do out loud, every day, without a partner.

The IELTS speaking test is an interview: you talk for about 11 to 14 minutes with an examiner across three parts. The only way to prepare for that is to talk. Talkexa lets you rehearse the format by voice with an AI tutor that answers, asks follow-ups and corrects the sentence you just said.

Practise the shape of the test

Tell Talkexa the situation at the start: “Act as an IELTS speaking examiner. Ask me Part 1 questions about my hometown.” The tutor asks, you answer out loud, and it asks again. Move to a Part 2 long turn — describe a person, a place, an experience — and speak for one to two minutes without stopping. Finish with Part 3 style discussion questions that push you to give opinions and reasons. You choose the topics; the tutor keeps the conversation going.

Corrections while you speak, not a week later

When a sentence has a grammar slip or an unnatural phrasing, the tutor’s reply includes a better version and a short reason in your own language, then continues with the next question. That is how you fix the tense mistake in “I have been living there since three years” the moment you make it, instead of repeating it on test day. If your answer was fine, the tutor says so and moves on.

Build the habit before the date

Speaking scores improve with frequency more than with duration. Three minutes a day of real answering is worth more than one long session a week. The free plan gives you 5 minutes on your first day and 3 minutes every day after; Premium (10 minutes a day) and Pro Max (30 minutes a day) fit a heavier schedule in the last weeks before the exam. Full conversation history on the paid plans lets you re-read what you said and how it was corrected.

What Talkexa does not do

Talkexa is not affiliated with IELTS and does not predict or assign a band score. It does not grade pronunciation sound by sound. It is a speaking partner and a corrector for grammar, word choice and phrasing — the fluency and accuracy side of the test — and a way to get comfortable talking for minutes at a time in English. Use official practice materials for scoring criteria and a teacher or examiner for a formal assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Does Talkexa give an IELTS band score?

No. It is not affiliated with IELTS and does not estimate bands. It corrects grammar and phrasing while you speak and reports after each session.

Can I practise the Part 2 long turn?

Yes. Ask the tutor for a cue-card style topic, then speak for one to two minutes. Corrections and follow-up questions come in the reply.

How much does IELTS speaking practice cost?

Free to start: 5 minutes on day one, then 3 minutes every day. Premium is $4.99/month for 10 minutes a day; Pro Max is $9.99/month for 30. Store prices are authoritative for your region.

Does it work for other speaking exams?

The same approach works for any interview-style speaking test: describe the format to the tutor and rehearse by voice.

Your first five minutes are free.

Talkexa is free to start on iPhone — 5 minutes of speaking today, then 3 minutes every day. Premium adds 10 minutes a day, Pro Max 30.
